Professional Certification in Electronic Health Records and Health Information Technology

For the first time, individuals can receive training regarding electronic health records and health information technology and gain recognition of their expertise as a Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR) and a Certified Professional in Health Information Technology (CPHIT). CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL
IN ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS (CPEHR)

The designation of Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR) indicates that the holder has evidenced a high level of expertise in the planning, implementation and operation of EHR systems and has mastered the common body of knowledge for an electronic health records professional.

CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL
IN HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (CPHIT)

The designation of Certified Professional in Health Information Technology (CPHIT) indicates that the holder has mastered the common body of knowledge for an electronic health records professional and, in addition, has evidenced expertise in a variety of health information technology applications, including CPOE and electronic prescribing.


IAPP Offers CIPP Training and Certification

The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) now offers Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) training and the CIPP certification examination. The CIPP is the industry's first-ever, broad-based privacy certification program. It is offered exclusively by the IAPP and is made possible through generous grants from Hewlett Packard and Microsoft. The CIPP is an entry-level certification program that stresses the fundamentals of privacy: understanding the concepts and applications of law and operational best practices as well as the privacy implications of emerging technologies. It also establishes educational and testing standards for the privacy profession.

The following individuals may wish to consider CIPP certification:

  • Seasoned executives who want to validate their existing skill set with a standard privacy credential
  • Corporate privacy managers chartered with bringing their staff up to a consistent level of privacy education
  • Professionals entirely new to the business of privacy who seek to establish a knowledge foundation in information privacy

THE CIPP CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION OFFERED ON
FRIDAY, September 9, 2005

The IAPP will offer the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) exam on Friday afternoon, September 9, 2005. The examination consists of 175 multiple choice and true/false questions across five subject matter areas: Privacy Law and Compliance, Information Security, Web Privacy and Security, Data Sharing and Transfer, and Workplace Privacy. You must be an IAPP member in order to take the CIPP examination. Training for the exam is recommended, but not required.


CISSP and Related Examinations Offered on Saturday, September 10, 2005

On Saturday, September 10, 2005, the following examinations will be offered:

  • CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional
  • SSCP: Systems Security Certified Practitioner
  • ISSEP: Information Systems Security Engineering Professional
  • ISSAP: Information Systems Security Architecture Professional
  • ISSMP: Information Systems Security Management Professional

These certification examinations are offered by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc., or (ISC)2. (ISC)2 is a non-profit organization, dedicated to:

  • Maintaining the CBK(r) for information security
  • Certifying industry professionals and practitioners under an international standard
  • Providing education
  • Administering certification examinations
  • Ensuring the continued competence of credential holders

Tens of thousands of information security professionals in over 100 countries worldwide have attained certification in one of the two designations administered by (ISC)2:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP(r))
  • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP(r))

    Both credentials indicate that those certified have demonstrated experience in the field of information security and have passed a rigorous examination. In addition, credential-holders are required to subscribe to the (ISC)2 Code of Ethics, maintain certification through continuing education and recertify every three years.

    For experienced information security professionals with a CISSP(r) credential in good standing, (ISC)2 Concentrations demonstrate their acquired rigorous knowledge of select CBK(r) domains. Passing a concentration examination demonstrates proven capabilities and subject-matter expertise beyond that required for the CISSP or SSCP credentials. Current Concentrations for CISSPs include the: ISSAPCM, Concentration in Architecture, ISSEPCM, Concentration in Engineering and ISSMPCM, Concentration in Management.
